Emerging from the vibrant music scene of Czech Republic and Slovakia, IONS is a dynamic five-piece progressive metal outfit. Founded by guitarist Jakub Tirco and vocalist Shorty Lago, the band's inception was a natural progression of their initial collaboration on Tirco's EP, "Introspection".
IONS' distinctive sound is characterized by a seamless integration of atmospheric keyboards, orchestral elements, and complex time signatures. Their affinity for synthesizers, low-tuned guitars, and post-rock influences shines in their latest album "Counterintuitive".
Within their songwriting, the band explores themes of morality, inequality in society, animal rights, domestic abuse, and more.
In 2024, IONS signed a record deal with Willowtip Records, and "Counterintuitive" won an award as the best hard & heavy album of 2023 at the Slovak Radio_Head Awards.
